Bed bugs are poor travellers. Almost every case of spread through a house was caused by somebody carrying them, usually while trying to escape them.
People move them. Bed bugs do not roam far on their own — they stay close to where someone sleeps.
Spread happens when someone moves rooms, carries bedding through the house, or relocates a mattress. The single best thing you can do is stay in your own bed.
Less than people assume. A bed bug's life is organised around being close to a sleeping person.
Which means that if two rooms are affected in a family house, something almost certainly carried them.
